　　龙卷风是自然界中最狠恶的风暴之一。面临这类可以做成严重伤亡的卑劣天气，我们至今对它的构成进程和生命周期仍未能完全了解。美国事全球每年最多龙卷风出现的国家，大大都的龙卷风都集合在中部阵势较平展的几个州份，是以这地带被称为「龙卷风巷」。
　　深入领会龙卷风以减低受灾地域的损失，是科学家一向尽力工作的方针。唐-伯吉斯联同几位科学家率领着全球跨越一百位研讨卑劣天气的专家，组成了「漩涡2号」研讨队。他们在龙卷风最常出现的地域安插载有雷达的车队、附设活动气象站的货车，以及自行设想的先辈气象探测仪器，务求收集更多更深入的材料停止分析，藉此进步龙卷风预告的速度和正确性，使人们有较多的时候躲避分散，以期将伤亡数字只管减至最低。另一方面，爱好研讨龙卷风的桑恩-凯西和队友无惧危险，追逐龙卷风多年。他们把车辆改装成能抵抗时速跨越300千米龙卷风的装甲车，并称之为「龙卷风截击车」，誓要驾着它勇闯龙卷风的中心，近间隔拍摄其内部的影象，从而揭开龙卷风的真脸孔。
　　「追击龙卷风」会率领你介入这个史上最大型的龙卷风研讨计划，跟从研讨队深入危机处处的龙卷风巷，探讨龙卷风的构成进程、移动途径，以及强度变化等情况。观众更会与几位追风斗士一同闯进龙卷风的心脏地带，置身於具强大破坏力的旋风当中，目击极端卑劣天气情况的实况，感受大自然非常震动的能力。
