　　麦德琳（Jordan Ladd 饰）婚后履历了两次流产，所以再次怀孕的她对腹中胎儿寄与厚望，不惜在怀孕前利用药物。平常有些压制的家庭空气中，丈夫与婆婆一样重视胎儿的状态。麦德琳决议此次的临蓐在医学博士帕蒂家中停止，丈夫有所思疑但还是驯服了麦德琳的主张。麦德琳产前不适，医生们倡议引产但被倔强的帕蒂阻止。心情烦闷的丈夫开车回家途中遭受车祸，致使胎儿灭亡，但麦德琳三周后居然生下一位健康的婴儿。麦德琳经心顾问婴儿格蕾丝，却发现自己女儿以血为食，麦德琳只得冷静供给女儿的血液需求，另一方面，发觉到异常的婆婆试图褫夺麦德琳的监护权，也由此激发了血腥的终局……
