　　故事发生在富贵都会芝加哥，在一片花天酒地之间，山姆（克里斯·海姆斯沃斯 Chris Hemsworth 饰）和妻子莱斯利（维多利亚·普罗费塔 Victoria Profeta 饰）背负着还房贷的庞大压力过着入不够出的生活。一次偶然中，山姆驾车从立交桥下驶过，一笔巨款居然突如其来，囊中羞涩的山姆没法对这笔不义之财置若罔闻，拿着这笔钱，他和妻子不但还清了房贷，还买了一辆拉风的越野车。还沉醉在一夜暴富的高兴当中的山姆没有发现，他早已浩劫临头。
　　这笔巨款来自一个名叫派克（肖恩·宾 Sean Bean 饰）的罪犯，他将赃款扔下桥诡计烧毁罪证，而且眼睁睁的看着山姆带走了钱。派克找到了山姆，向他发出了警告，假如山姆没法在5天内将他花掉的钱重新补齐，那末他的结果将不胜设想。
