故事发生在19世纪动乱又紊乱的英格兰，布克（西蒙·佩吉 Simon Pegg 饰）和海尔（安迪·瑟金斯 Andy Serkis 饰）是一对盗墓人，他们不法窃取泉台中值钱的陪葬品，再将其换成数目可观的金钱归入囊中。陪葬品究竟有限，盗墓赢利并不能让他们成为身无分文的富翁，因而，邪恶的两人起头打起了尸身的主张。
他们将尸身销售给了一个名叫罗伯特（汤姆·威尔金森 Tom Wilkinson 饰）的医生，从中赚取巨额利润，但随着时候的流逝，为数不多的死者已经逐步没法满足海尔和布克越来越大的胃口，就这样，盗窃尸身的两人成为了制造尸身的两人。短短1年之内，就有17人在海尔和布克的屠刀下丧命，但在行凶作恶的同时，这两人也在向自己的宅兆迈进着。
