◎简 介
琼·克劳馥荣获金像奖后的代表作，她在片中饰演一个为女儿牺牲一切的母亲，在婚姻破裂以后，她仍然卖力赢利，好让她的长女安白兰丝可以上好的黉舍，穿标致的衣裳。不意女儿是个自擅自利的家伙，未但不知戴德，还背着母亲跟她的情夫幽会。后来白兰丝失手将情夫杀死，克劳馥还自顾为女儿顶罪，真是不幸全国怙恃心。本片故事虽是典型的番笕剧，但剧本写得灵敏而富有文学性，导演迈克尔．柯蒂兹也没有让伦理亲情流为滥情，而且也松散地控制着情节成长的抑扬抑扬和动人氛围，故被誉为美国影史上最好伦理浅显剧之一。
