故事內容根基上環繞著一對生活在美國紐約市，中心公園四周大廈的父女，在一次機緣偶合下碰到一隻來自異天下，聽得懂人們說話的一頭狗，但亦因為這樣而被來自異天下的人狼及 Trolls 追殺，他們為了回避，結果與那一頭狗走進了一度通往異天下的进口，進入了他們從沒想到的天下 -- The 9th Kingdom。
他們在異天下中，一方面要回避邪惡女王的手下追殺，另一方面亦要找尋回到現實天下的方式，但他們每進入一個國度，也經歷及見識了分歧的天下，從而產生了很多刺激、緊張、浪漫的冒險故事。
