《心底的逆流》报告秘鲁海边一位已婚的深柜男人在守旧情况和挚爱男鬼间做出艰难决定的超现实故事。原片名“Contracorriente”直译作“回头浪”，指浪花在前后阻力中折回、反向、会聚、堆叠冲击海岸的形状，暗喻仆人公米古（Cristian Mercado 饰）和桑迪亚哥（Manolo Cardona 饰）之间一波三折的忌讳之爱。米古行将为人父，但悄爱着画家桑迪亚哥溺水而死的鬼魂。为能长相厮守，他藏匿了桑迪亚哥的尸身，却给自己的生活带来不能承受之重。终极米古对这段豪情的罢休令桑迪亚哥的灵魂获得了救赎。
本片获得2010年圣丹斯电影节的天下电影观众大奖（World Cinema Audience Award），并代表秘鲁角逐2011年奥斯卡最好外语片奖。
