奥斯卡女导演葆拉凡德奥斯特最新力作，描写南非女墨客英格丽琼蔻（Ingrid Jonker）在种族隔离时代匹敌体制的传奇平生，也带出她与情人（尼恩康尼翰 饰）和父亲（鲁格豪尔 饰）之间的爱恨恩怨。英格丽琼寇是南非著名的女墨客，她的童年坎坷悲凉，却在写诗创作方面具有惊人的才华。由于丈夫任职南非旧政府，两人因对种族隔离看法分歧、致使婚姻破裂，并进而使烦闷的她最初挑选了投海自杀，年仅32岁。
英格丽琼蔻死后留下了一个7岁女儿及诸多动人作品，其中最负盛名的即为诗集《黑蝶漫舞》。1994年，当南非总统曼德拉自牢狱获释时，他在全天下注视标就职仪式上，就高声朗诵了深得他心的英格丽琼蔻所作的一首动人的诗，终使英格丽琼寇在死去30年后、扬名全球…
