一场惨无人道的大屠杀后，小女孩丽贝卡成为了唯一的幸存者，但她今后也得上了失忆症。几年后，丽贝卡长大成人并有了稳定的工作，但一系列怪事却相继而来：接到奥秘的灭亡邮件、电视里忽然出现死去的亲人等等，之前负责这起案件侦察的警官托马斯也对此次事务很是感爱好，并赞成辅佐她停止观察。事后丽贝卡鬼使神差地来到久违的屠杀现场，竟发现之前的死人全数新生，被奉告凶手就在他们中心的同时接到报警的特种军队也来到此地展开观察，没想到昔时的血腥一幕又将会在这里再次重现……
这是德国僵尸大师Olaf的又一血腥佳构，也是他一切作品中剧情最完善、最有条理的一部。它继续了Olaf“没有最恶只要更恶”的特点，并在视觉冲击结果上更进一步，几近到达了唯美的境界，大有赶超可骇极限之势。他所拍摄的电影里演员脚色几近都没有明白的正邪之分，有的只不外是“谁死的更惨而已”，就如人间万物都有虚假的外衣，层层破茧后只会剩下赤裸裸的灭亡。影片最初女配角在弥留之际被活死人救起，丝丝暖和的阳光透过残缺屋顶照耀在那张可骇扭曲的脸庞上，却显得如此平和（最初正义一方酿成了大反派，而充任反派撕人无数的活死人们竟酿成了天使一般的存在，这真是丧尸片中的一大典范桥段）。
