四年前，Tessa Scott被（达科塔·范宁 Dakota Fanning 饰）查出得了白血病，医生认可这是不治之症，因而她放弃了治疗。四年后的明天，她的怙恃已经分家，她和弟弟、父亲（帕迪·康斯戴恩 Paddy Considine 饰）住在一路，有一个好朋友Zoey（卡雅·斯考达里奥 Kaya Scodelario 饰）。她为自己列了一张临死前要做的清单。第一件就是停止她的第一次性行为，还有比如著名，嗑药，偷工具等等。Zoey的男朋友为她先容了一个男生，但是在床上她却临阵逃走了。接着她又熟悉了新搬来的邻人Adam（杰瑞米·艾文 Jeremy Irvine 饰），两人对相互都有好感。Adam带着她去加入派对，开着摩托车载着她在马路上狂奔，在深夜的海里泅水，终究，他们成了情侣。但是这段豪情一路头却遭到了Tessa父亲的否决。另一方面，Zoey意外怀孕，思虑再三她决议把孩子留下来。Tessa的病情正在逐步恶化，她最初的心愿就是，能否在她分开人世之前见到Zoey的孩子？
本片按照2007年Jenny Downham的小说《Before I Die》改编。
