1995年，反恐特别行动组特维斯中校（史蒂文·席格 Steven Seagal 饰）带队执行一次解救行动，不料却以失败告终……三个月后，军情局顾问戴维（库尔特·拉塞尔 Kurt Russell 饰）接到消息：恐怖组织头目阿布亚法被捕并将被引渡到美国。10天后，一架由雅典飞往华盛顿的747客机被阿布亚法的副手安塔尔劫持，后者要求美国政府释放阿布亚法。戴维受命解决危机，他指出恐怖分子的本意是利用毒气炸弹攻击美国本土，所以坚决不能使飞机入境。同时参会的特维斯提出了大胆的计划：他要率领反恐特别行动组通过空中对接的方式登上被劫持的747客机……
◎幕后揭秘
这部恐怖分子劫持飞机的惊险片有一个精彩之处，就是借用了宇航船的原理，开创了两架飞机“亲密接触”的先例。该片比一般惊险片略胜一筹，因为它把恐怖集团头目跟小罗罗的动机分开：大家以为是为捍卫伊斯兰教义而战，惟独头目却只是拿它当幌子用。这些招术并没增加影片的戏剧厚度，但丰富了它的观赏性。拉塞尔扮演的主角是个文人，并不擅长拳打脚踢等视觉性强的技术，加上席格扮演的上校在登机时消失于蓝天白云，影片总算绕开了有勇无谋的傻瓜型动作模式。前来营救的突击队是一个各民族人民欢聚一堂的大家庭，有白人、黑人、拉丁美洲人，还有亚洲人。他们大部分时间躲在波音747的肚子里，那肚里乾坤虽然有不少戏，但还是显得冗长。General
